My father once told me, “Find a job you love, and you'll never work another day in your life”. Pretty great advice, right? But, of course, he didn't mean that literally; what it implies is that when you find something you love, it feels like a choice rather than a burden, and on the whole, will add value and meaning to your life and lives around you. A complete lack of skill meant professional hockey was a non-starter, and not being able to sing meant rock star was out, but I eventually found my passion.
For the past 28 years, I've helped Canadians solve the wealth accumulation puzzle, and even after all that time, I still get as much juice today, playing a part in helping my clients achieve their financial goals as I did when I started. As a husband and father, I know just how vital it is to surround yourself with the people and resources you can rely on and trust. So, in this fast-paced, ever-changing world where everyone is trying to sell you simple because that's a lot easier to deliver on, it's essential to understand that simple, just isn't that simple anymore.
There are many things in a lifetime that you can DIY, like painting a fence, building an IKEA bookshelf or designing your ultimate man cave/she-shed, but, I can promise you, DIYing a comprehensive financial plan that your family is counting on you to get right, isn't one of them.
